Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security measure implemented to enhance the protection of your ConSol account by introducing an additional verification layer that prevents unauthorised access. By the end of this guide, you’ll have a better understanding of how MFA improves your data security and promotes enhanced user management for increased productivity while using ConSol.
MFA Benefits:
Increase Security Profile:
Introducing MFA adds an extra layer of security for all ConSol users. Single-factor authentication methods (like passwords) are commonly used across multiple sites and can often be compromised. MFA helps reduce the risk of credential theft.
User Management:
MFA is especially beneficial for System Administrators and Project Managers. This update requires every user in your company to have a unique account, which helps improve activity tracking. This makes it easier to identify who was responsible for updates to work orders, and resolve issues using direct contact.
Contractors:
This change brings the added benefit of allowing contractors to use our ConSol mobile app, which enables subcontractors to note updates and upload photos directly while on site. This will help contractors save time and eliminate the hassle of uploading these photos to a desktop and then to the ConSol website. Using ConSol Mobile will enable the use of the 'Boots on the Ground' functionality. Users can be profiled to enable controlled access to specific functions, on a user-by-user basis.
Preferred Authenticator:
The Multi-Factor Authentication update allows users to choose their preferred authenticator, whether it's Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or another option. Users can have all of their MFA codes in one app.
Although the MFA upgrade is a positive change for ConCol, there are a few important things to remember.
- Each contractor will need an individual account that is linked to their own email address. A separate user account will need to be created for each person.
- User accounts can no longer be shared to maintain ConSol's integrity and security.
- Each ConSol account can only be linked to one Authenticator app.
