The Gateway Importer enables customers to quickly and easily create new orders that are scoped and allocated to a supplier with all relevant documents and data points included.
This process can be carried out by a user uploading the relevant import files or can be configured to search a directory for new import files that are automatically picked up and processed.
What is the Gateway Importer?
As described by ConSol Solutions Architect, Norval Hope, “It’s a configurable importer for spreadsheets, that allows customers to send bulk batches of data to create objects (such as orders) in ConSol with one action."
Essentially, Gateway is just that - a gateway. Should a customer wish to create a large number of Orders at once, we simply configure a template for you that will interpret the information you have about the orders. The system then reads the spreadsheet of order information that you provide and translates this into a number of new ConSol orders.
What kind of data can I use for Gateway? Does it work for everything?
We’ve currently configured Gateway Importer to allow for the creation of the following entities:
- Project View
- Order
- Order Items
- Order Attachments
To put this into context, you could use the Gateway Importer to generate a bulk creation of itemised Orders within Project Views or you could add new documents to existing orders. Orders created in this way will automatically progress through the order creation life-cycle, as far as the provided data will allow.
Why might I use the Gateway Importer?
Let's say that your company requires a lot of time and effort to scope and detail the work in ConSol to manage a large new project requiring multiple subbie engagements to fulfil a number of different components of work.
Gateway would save time and increase accuracy by taking the relevant details from your project design system, reconfiguring them as required and importing them in bulk into ConSol.
This would result in a substantial reduction of time from completing the design, to creating the work orders and having suppliers start work.
